Dear Kim, Deb, and Scott, I met your family in 1971. I had just moved to the big city of Lakewood from a tiny town in Nebraska. I was a short, fat, awkward girl with purple diamond shaped glasses and braces. Needless to say it was a difficult move. I met Deb at Manning Junior High and she brought me into your family. You mom was a savior to me at that time. Shirley was so kind, capable, and strong. I remember the incredible Shaklee business she ran and the amazing weavings she made in her gorgeous loom room. Fast forward to the late 1980's, I was working in advertising in Denver and needed to hire a great looking middle aged man. Imagine my surprise when your dad walked in the door! I hired Jim as often as I could. In 2003 I got my real estate license and reconnected with your mom. Little did I know she would become my managing broker at Fuller. Shirley was THE BEST manager in the world. She was so supportive and her knowledge was endless. My favorite memory is on my first closing at Fuller. I had a listing with a bad roof, the buyer's mortgage broker suggested that my seller just write the buyer a check out of closing. As those in real estate know, this is not allowed. I went into Shirley's office to ask her if this was OK. Shirley got out of her chair, marched into the closing and told the mortgage broker he was committing loan fraud and she would be happy to turn him in! I stood back in awe and knew from that day forward that Shirley Ryan was the best friend, manager, and realtor I have known. I will miss her dearly. I know she is reunited with her loved ones. I know she is also watching down on me in every closing! She was AMAZING!

Shirley was a great mentor and someone I always enjoyed talking to. Shirley was representing the other side of my very first deal in real estate. Somehow I think she knew I was a rookie, but she never let on. She was very supportive and respectful and I still have the note she wrote me after the transaction was complete. She acted surprised when I eventually admitted it was my first deal. She later became my manager and friend and I will miss her wonderful emails. She also introduced me to a magazine that we love and receive every week. Now when the magazine arrives, I smile and give a little nod of appreciation. What a special lady! We have known and have adored Shirley for 15 years. She was our mentor and dear friend. It only took a year of seeing her everyday at Fuller Towne and Country Real Estate for her to decide it was ok for John and I to hug her! Once we got the go ahead, we always loved her hugs. We have several Shirley Real Estate sayings but our favorite is: "Be careful, you don't want to die on that hill!" She guided us through many Real Estate Transactions and taught us how to write Additional Provisions correctly...( or else! ). John and I were lucky enough to have a three hour lunch with her at the Wild Game about a week before she died ( She did that perfectly, as well! Shirley was always so organized!) We know she's looking down on all of us encouraging us to perform appropriately!

Kim, Scott, Deb- I loved Shirley and had to smile at the circumstances around her passing. Well done, Shirley. I won't be able to attend her celebration because my wife broke her collar bone last week and I'm doing care-giver duty. But I wanted to thank you for the notice you sent and to let you know that she (like Jim) was loved and respected in the real estate community. Best- Tupper

I will miss getting together with Shirley for lunch and Mah Jongg! A few days before she passed I was at her house and she was instructing me on Mah Jongg. We played for quite a while! She could have continued but my brain was in overload!!!! She sent me home with copies of instructions. She taught me a lot that day!! She was a great lady.

I (we) will surely miss our friend Shirley, but we have so many memories - was our broker to buy our home, traveled to Turkey, Israel & Greece with Jim & Shirley, watched movies with her, and helped her with home repairs after Jim's passing. We enjoyed talking politics and sharing our frustrations together while drinking her sweet iced tea around the kitchen table. I will miss her, but only, until we see each other in the future.

The greatest gift Shirley gave me was helping me purchase my current home over 20 years ago. Although she was the agent for the buyer initially, she held my hand through the whole process. Shirley could run a corporation if she had wanted to...she was organized, well-informed and efficient. Truly a remarkable woman and I will miss seeing her regularly at church.

Shirley was such a good friend to us - starting way back when we were building our first home - down the road from Shirley & Jim. She came down one day while we were discussing the wood by the fireplace. We just didn't know how to have the builder place the wood to highlight the fireplace. Shirley didn't even hesitate - she told us how to angle the panel - which we did and it looked great! Then - after we had our first daughter, Ashley, we had decided to use cloth diapers - being the perfect parents. So -my mother was there and we had this pile of cloth diapers - and had baby Ashley laying on the table - ready for a diaper BUT we didn't know how to make it stay on her. Sooo - I called Shirley and she came right down and taught us how to diaper the baby! Shirley was always there to give you her direct opinion - if you asked. The Supber Bowl parties were always fun - even though her kids were always running around. Shirley was my friend before Kim - or Debbie. I really miss Shirley - I always looked for her at church - and still find myself doing so. What a neat lady!
